"This is the prime wool from our 2020 shearing, sorted into two colors, and spun into 2-ply sport weight yarn. I sort the coarser britch wool away from the bulk of the fleece. Then I sort the remaining fiber into dark brown and gray. The gray fiber includes parts of the white and black that can't easily be separated so there are fibers of both colors in the strands of gray yarn. The fiber was scoured, carded, and spun at Valley Oak Wool Mill in Yolo County, CA.
Skeins are approximately 2.5 ounces and 195 yards. Price is for 1 skein each.
Jacob sheep are a rare breed with unique spotted fleeces and 2 or 4 horns! Our flock grazes irrigated pasture 3/4 of the year and is fed locally-grown alfalfa during the winter. We use intensive grazing management to promote the health of the pasture and the sheep, and we implement low-stress handling techniques when working with the sheep (many of whom are pets). "
