Our Story

"Eating organic, seasonally, and regionally is wise for sound health and nutrition. What we put on our skin should also reflect our local environment- it's plants and animals that sequester carbon from the atmosphere and are grown and grazed on regenerative soil, just as our ancestors have"

-Megan Bre Camp
Founder, CEO, and Tallow Artisan

Crafted with Care and Commitment to Regeneration

Founded in 2014 by organic chef, gardener, and natural perfumer Megan Bre Camp, Summer Solace Tallow is a small, family-owned business based in Oakland, California. We craft slow-made, deeply nourishing tallow-based skincare and home goods using organic, regional, and regeneratively sourced ingredients.

Raised in Alaska, Megan began her journey as a holistic nutrition chef and French chocolatier. She was inspired to act after seeing friends and their children struggle with eczema. Drawing from ancestral diets, natural healing traditions, and her Indigenous roots in the Central Highlands of Vietnam and the Filipino countryside, she envisioned a skincare line that revived the traditional use of pasture-raised animal fats.

Summer Solace reflects her deep respect for the Earth, seasonal rhythms, and whole-animal stewardship. Every ingredient is sourced with intention from ethical ranchers and farmers in Northern California. Each product is crafted to support real skin wellness with care, sustainability, and integrity.

From Pasture to Palm™, Summer Solace Tallow honors a lineage of healing and offers skincare you can trust.

Founder Megan Bre Camp, a trained chef and natural perfumer, studied culinary arts at the University of Alaska Anchorage and later pursued horticulture and permaculture at Merritt College in Oakland. Her culinary journey includes work in celebrated Bay Area kitchens such as Standard Fare and Three Stone Hearth, where she worked alongside chefs from Chez Panisse. She also has experience as a chocolatier and artisan perfumer. Megan is a proud mother, home gardener, and dedicated advocate for sustainability.

As a producer and board member of Northern California Fibershed and a member of Land to Market, Megan actively supports regenerative agriculture and sustainable fiber systems. You can find her every weekend at the Oakland Farmers' Markets, offering Summer Solace’s small-batch, premium products and sharing her deep commitment to local, sustainable living.
