Our Story

"Eating organic, seasonally, and regionally is wise for sound health and nutrition. What we put on our skin should also reflect our local environment- it's plants and animals that sequester carbon from the atmosphere and are grown and grazed on regenerative soil, just as our ancestors have"

Skinfood for a Regenerative Future®

I founded Summer Solace Tallow in 2014 as an extension of my life’s work and values. Based in Oakland, California, my small, family-run business is devoted to crafting slow-made, deeply nourishing skincare and home goods using organic, regional, and regeneratively sourced ingredients. Everything I make is created by hand, with care, intention, and respect for every ingredient that I work with.

I was raised in Alaska in a military family, where discipline, resilience, and a connection to the land shaped me early on. My professional path began as a holistic nutrition chef and later as a French-trained chocolatier. Through my work in food, I developed a profound respect for whole ingredients and traditional methods. That foundation stayed with me when I began to notice how many friends, and especially their children, were struggling with eczema and chronic skin issues.

Drawing from ancestral diets, traditional healing practices, and my Indigenous heritage from the Central Highlands of Vietnam and the Filipino countryside, I was inspired to revive the traditional use of pasture-raised animal fats for skin care. I saw tallow not as a trend, but as a time-honored material that had quietly sustained generations before us.

Summer Solace Tallow reflects my acknowledgment and respect for the Earth, seasonal rhythms, and whole-animal stewardship. Every ingredient I use is sourced intentionally from ethical partners, including fresh suet tallow from Stemple Creek Ranch, botanicals from Sonoma Herb Exchange, and Séka Hills extra-virgin olive oil, grown by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation in Northern California. These relationships matter to me, and they are foundational to the integrity of my work.

Each product I create is designed to support real skin wellness while honoring sustainability, transparency, and care at every step.

From Pasture to Palm™, Summer Solace Tallow is my way of honoring a lineage of healing and offering skincare that people can truly trust.
