Regional Northern California Climate-Beneficial™ Wool Sponges – Cream

Sustainable, Durable, and Naturally Clean

Experience the versatility of Climate-Beneficial™ Wool Sponges—perfect for dishes, face and body care, or cleaning surfaces. Made from 100% Northern California Climate-Beneficial™ wool, these sponges are naturally antimicrobial, antifungal, and fully compostable, offering a sustainable alternative for your home.

Why Wool Sponges?

  • Durable & Odor-Free
Wool sponges resist becoming gross or smelly and last 6 months to a year.

  • Naturally Antimicrobial & Compostable
Organic wool’s inherent properties make these sponges eco-friendly and hygienic.

  • Multi-Purpose Use
Gentle enough for skincare yet tough enough for cleaning dishes and surfaces.

How to Care for Your Wool Sponge

  • Rinse & Dry: After use, rinse with warm water, squeeze out excess moisture, and lay flat to dry.
  • Stains: Use soap as needed.
  • Avoid Machine Washing: Wool will warp in a washing machine.
  • Sunlight Sanitizer: Sunlight acts as a natural disinfectant.

Note: Sponges will shrink slightly with initial use but will settle to a regular sponge size and become scrubby over time. Do not cut them.

Sustainably Sourced Wool

These sponges are crafted from wool sourced at Ferndale Farms in Ferndale, California, where sheep are raised with care using climate-beneficial practices. Learn more about rancher Jill Hackett, her family, and their animals on Instagram: @humboldtherder.

Climate-Beneficial™ Verified by Fibershed

This wool is certified Climate-Beneficial™, grown on farms actively implementing a Carbon Farm Plan. These plans, developed with Resource Conservation Districts (RCD) or the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), measure and quantify practices that sequester carbon, directly contributing to mitigating climate change.

Supporting Regenerative Farming

Ferndale Farms incorporates cover crops, rotational grazing, and wildlife habitat maintenance, ensuring their land stewardship supports both people and the planet.

10% of profits go back to farms to help expand carbon farming practices, supporting a regenerative economy where natural materials meet sustainable living.

Make your cleaning routine sustainable with wool sponges that care for your home, health, and the planet.

Our products are pure, intentional, and rooted in tradition. A little goes a long way. Use slowly and with care.

Our small-batch, fresh suet, dry-rendered, and unwhipped tallow naturally responds to environmental conditions. These gentle shifts in texture are to be expected and are a sign of the purity and simplicity of our ingredients.

  • In warmer temperatures, the balm may soften. If exposed to extreme heat, refrigerate it to restore a firmer consistency. If it fully melts, leave the lid off and allow it to re-solidify in the refrigerator.
  • In cooler temperatures, the balm may become firmer. To soften, place the jar in a warm water bath or bring it into the shower for a few minutes.

We embrace this seasonal adaptability as part of the natural rhythm and beauty of truly handmade, whole-food skincare.

Rooted in tradition. Grounded in regeneration. Designed to nourish.

Founded in 2014 by chef and natural perfumer Megan Bre Camp, Summer Solace Tallow is a pioneering skincare and lifestyle brand based in Oakland, California. We are the first of our kind to champion regenerative suet tallow as the foundation of holistic skin and home care. Each product is handcrafted in-house using time-honored techniques and locally sourced ingredients from trusted Northern California producers. Our mission is to create skincare that is pure, intentional, and deeply restorative.

What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to quality, transparency, and ecological care. We use only kidney suet from pasture-raised Northern California cattle, sourced from Stemple Creek Ranch. This suet tallow is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K and closely mirrors the structure of human skin, making it deeply nourishing and naturally supportive of skin health.

We never use seed oils, synthetic fragrances, or palm oil. Instead, our formulas rely on nutrient-rich animal fats, organic botanicals, and pure essential oils that offer lasting nourishment without compromise.

Every balm, soap, and candle is made in-house using cold-process and dry-rendering methods that preserve nutrient density and the integrity of each ingredient. We proudly partner with local farms and artisans, including Séka Hills (Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation) for extra-virgin olive oil, calendula growers in Sonoma, and Oakland-based master beekeeper Khaled Almaghafi, who provides our raw beeswax.

Our tallow-beeswax candles are clean-burning and crafted without soy or paraffin. They are scented with essential oils and natural absolutes, offering long-lasting, non-toxic aromas that elevate any space.

As the originator of the Slow Body Care Movement®, we honor ancestral practices, whole-animal stewardship, and regenerative agriculture in everything we do.

Summer Solace Tallow is available nationwide, including at Nordstrom, and at our local Oakland farmers markets, where we continue to share our story, our values, and our promise: Skinfood for a Regenerative Future®.
