Grass-fed, finished, and pasture-raised suet tallow benefits are more than skin deep. At Summer Solace, we make each buttery smooth batch of nourishing tallow in-house and by hand with exclusively locally sourced suet from verified regeneratively raised cattle from Stemple Creek Ranch in Tomales Bay, California.
More than organic, the ranch we work with practices beyond sustainable methods that draw carbon down from the atmosphere and directly assist in reversing the effects of climate change.
These animals are responsibly raised and grazed on Northern California pastures within 60 miles of our Oakland studio, helping us minimize transportation's impact, lower our carbon footprint, and maintain healthy relationships with the seasons, the land, animals, and our ranchers.
"It is wise to eat organic, seasonally, and regionally for sound health and nutrition. What we put on our skin should also reflect our local environment- it's plants and animals that sequester carbon from the atmosphere and that are grown and grazed on regenerative soil, just as our ancestors have"
-Megan Bre Camp, Founder and CEO of Summer Solace
Slow Made + Locally Focused
Grass-fed, pasture-raised suet tallow contains copious amounts of vitamins A, D, K, E, and B12. It is rich in essential fatty acids that help maintain the skin's structural integrity.
Its abundant nutrient profile supports the natural production of collagen. It provides anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties, all of which help to treat and soothe dry skin and immune responses like eczema and rosacea.
As an occlusive material, tallow mimics the skin's natural barrier, protecting it from environmental and elemental wear and tear and helping retain essential moisture.
"Consider these balms for those in your life who care deeply about where their products come from and how they are made. Organic chef and gardener Megan Bre Camp marries scents like Silver Fir, Bay Laurel, and Hinoki with regenerative Northern California Tallow to create a truly slow-made and thoughtful addition to the skincare landscape."
-Kerrilyn Palmer, CAP Beauty, Los Angeles
Suet tallow fat was commonly used as a sustainable, regenerating skin protectant before the introduction of Petrochemicals. Our wise ancestors knew the value and health benefits of using grass-fed animal fats in their diets and topically to protect and heal against the environmental elements.
We should have a connection to what we put on our skin and use in our homes—connecting to the land, environment, and seasons and my community through the farmers’ market sparked me to build my brand around the Slow Body Movement™.
Every ingredient has a story that we can tell. I source from the highest quality and ethically responsible communities and work with people with a purpose- sourcing every element from the local, ecologically-responsible California community and landscape.
Summer Solace's natural candles are artfully hand-crafted from a balanced blend of regeneratively-raised Northern California suet tallow from Stemple Creek Ranch and sustainably sourced beeswax by Bay Area master beekeeper Khaled Almaghafi.
Starting with the highest quality, fully traceable regional ingredients, these traditionally made, non-toxic, and lead-free wicked candles lend exceptionally peaceful energy to a home space.
Our commitment to a fully traceable, locally-focused supply chain is unparalleled in the health and wellness industry. We are ceaselessly working to revitalize our ancestors' wise traditional skin care practices by drawing these connections between ourselves, our community, and our local environment in all facets.
