"Eating organic, seasonally, and regionally is wise for sound health and nutrition. What we put on our skin should also reflect our local environment- it's plants and animals that sequester carbon from the atmosphere and that are grown and grazed on regenerative soil, just as our ancestors have"

Regenerative Tallow® Beauty

What is Tallow?

Tallow is at the heart of what we do here at Summer Solace.

Tallow is a healthy animal fat made from rendered suet, the fat naturally surrounding the loins and kidneys of cattle. Though typically disposed of nowadays, tallow can be used in myriad culinary and cosmetic applications when diverted from the waste stream.

It has been amongst resourceful pastoral peoples for much of human history. At Summer Solace, we make all of our tallow in-house by slow, traditional methods from suet harvested from healthy animals raised for meat who have lived their lives grazing on local regenerative Northern California pasturelands.

The SST Way

Skinfood for a Regenerative Future®

Our commitment to a fully traceable, locally-focused supply chain is unparalleled in the health and wellness industry. We are ceaselessly working to revitalize our ancestors' wise traditional skincare practices by drawing these connections between ourselves, our community, and our local environment in all facets.

At Summer Solace, we use only the highest quality ingredients and elevated techniques in our products. Every week, Megan hand-renders 50 lbs of fresh cattle suet fat using a slow and gentle dry rendering method, then hand-pours it into each jar. This ensures that no water touches the tallow, preventing water contamination. We do not whip our products, which inhibits the growth of mold and bacteria.

Our commitment to excellence guarantees you receive the purest, most nourishing tallow possible.

Utilizing sustainable methods that draw carbon down from the atmosphere, we actively contribute to reversing the effects of climate change.

Locally Sourced

Locally sourced, organic suet from pasture-raised cattle in Northern California.

Deeply Nourishing

Tallow contains abundant vitamins A, D, K, E, and B12. It is rich in essential fatty acids that help maintain the skin's structural integrity.

Committed to Traditional Practices since 2014

Truly Regenerative and Seed Oil-Free.

Pasture-raised suet tallow benefits are more than skin deep. At Summer Solace, we make each buttery smooth batch of nourishing tallow in-house and by hand with exclusively locally sourced suet from verified regeneratively raised cattle from Stemple Creek Ranch in Tomales Bay, California.

More than organic, the ranch we work with practices beyond sustainable methods that draw carbon down from the atmosphere and directly assist in reversing the effects of climate change.

These animals are responsibly raised and grazed on Northern California pastures within 60 miles of our Oakland studio, helping us minimize transportation's impact, lower our carbon footprint, and maintain healthy relationships with our ranchers.
