At Summer Solace Tallow, our product line is thoughtfully crafted with local, regenerative ingredients, inspired by the ancestral tradition of healing animal fats.
Hand-poured and properly dry-rendered in-house from fresh suet sourced from regeneratively raised, grass-finished cattle at Stemple Creek Ranch in Tomales Bay, California, our nutrient-dense tallow honors ancient principles with modern efficacy.
Infused with botanicals and therapeutic scents from the Northern California landscape and enriched with extra virgin olive oil grown by indigenous land stewards, every formula is designed to deeply support and sustain skin health.

For over a decade, we have remained steadfast in our commitment to traditional techniques, using the highest quality ingredients sourced from Northern California.
Each balm, soap, and candle is carefully crafted with nutrient-rich suet from Stemple Creek Ranch, sourced through whole animal butchery by The Local Butcher Shop in Berkeley. This is blended with hand-harvested calendula from Sonoma, extra virgin olive oil from Séka Hills produced by the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation in Capay Valley, and beeswax from Khaled Almaghafi’s apiaries in Oakland.
Our process preserves the full integrity of tallow. We never overheat, whip, or dilute our products. The result is a golden-hued, gently emulsified balm that melts into the skin for optimal absorption and lasting nourishment.

What is Tallow?
Tallow is at the heart of everything we do at Summer Solace.
As the pioneer in Regenerative Tallow® and the Slow Body Care Movement®, we source beef suet fat, a nutritious animal fat derived from the suet naturally surrounding the loins and kidneys of cattle.
Though often discarded today, tallow has historically been used in a myriad of culinary and cosmetic applications when saved from the waste stream. It has been a vital resource among pastoral communities throughout much of human history.
At Summer Solace, we craft all of our tallow in-house using slow, soft, traditional dry-rendering methods, starting with suet (we never use trim fat!) from healthy animals raised for meat at Stemple Creek Ranch. These animals spend their lives grazing on regenerative Northern California pasturelands.
